In Weil am Rhein, near the border between France, Switzerland and Germany, the impressive shopping arcade Dreiländergalerie rises, with a total area of 63,000 square metres. A new tram line from Basel is set to entice visitors from Switzerland to cross the border and enjoy the shopping offer in Germany. But the Dreiländergalerie is more than just a shopping destination; it also creates a lively public space around the building for events and entertainment.

Elegance and Airiness in Architecture

In collaboration with CEMAGG GmbH, Düsseldorf-based renowned architectural firm Chapman Taylor has designed a building with graceful curves. The building, enveloped by glass walls and partly clad in gold-coloured cut-out aluminium, exudes an elegant airiness. From Drawing to Delivery

Sorba, known as surface creators, took the lead in the engineering, planning, delivery and installation of the Alpolic cladding. The use of this aluminium composite in the sophisticated colour Schapira Gold Metallic has given the building a unique look. The colour Schapira Gold 3 was developed especially for this project, it is a “custom” colour adapted to the client’s requirements.

Sorba also provided the crucial substructure for this eye-catching cladding. The successful completion in autumn 2022 marks a high point in this collaboration.
